Spooky Cave Paintings
Objectives:
T.S.W. - Explore subjects and techniques of ancient cave paintings and their history.
T.S.W. - Demonstrate knowledge of chalk pastel techniques to accurately represent the style of ancient cave paintings.
T.S.W. - Apply knowledge of animal skeletal structures to artwork.
T.S.W. - Self assess and critique their own work as well as the work of others demonstrating aesthetic knowledge of description, analysis, interpretation, and judgment.
Procedures:
- Students will create 2 - 4 thumbnail sketches of animal silhouettes similar to that of ancient cave paintings.
- Students will research and draw skeletal structures of chosen animals.
- Students will create a full page rough draft of cave painting in sketchbook.
- Students will crumble paper to create background of cave painting.

AR.600.15.01 - Describe how the various cultures covered on 6th grade scope and sequence use art as a form of visual expression.
AR.600.35.01 - Demonstrate how the people of the geographic regions on 6th grade scope and sequence use art to express ideas and to represent their culture, place, and events.
AR.600.60.01 - Create projects bsed on the cultural information from the 6th grade scope and sequence.
AR.600.70 - Focus on and emphasize the distinctive aesthetic contributions of various cultural forms.
